What exactly is the Annual Milford Oyster Festival?

It exists to promote a feeling of community pride, spirit, civic awareness and togetherness within the city of Milford between its citizens, Connecticut-based non-profit organizations, members of the business sector, and community leaders.

This purpose is accomplished by providing a forum for non-profit organizations to raise money for their charitable causes and services.

It provides for the exhibition and sale of non-commercially-made arts and crafts and family-oriented entertainment.
The festival also exists to spotlight the history of the oyster industry in Milford and the efforts to return it to its glory. The volunteers of the Annual Milford Oyster Festival, Inc. committee facilitate the organization, promotion and implementation of the event itself, which is always the third Saturday in August (this year it is August 16th).
